Gov. Okpebholo Leads APC Delegation on Condolence Visit to Okao of Ologbo
Benin City- The Executive Governor of Edo, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on Friday led a high-powered delegation of government officials and party leaders on a condolence visit to the Okao of Ologbo, Chief Emmanuel Iyase, over the death of his wife, Mrs. Mandaline Iyase.
The visit, attended by key figures in the state’s political hierarchy, was marked by solemn reflections and expressions of sympathy for the bereaved family.
Speaking during the visit, Governor Okpebholo said he was accompanied by the local government chairman and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to commiserate with Chief Iyase in his moment of grief.
“It is painful, but you have to bear it. No matter how much you cry, she will not come back. I believe God will grant you the strength to carry on,” the governor said.
He urged the bereaved to remain strong and focus on moving forward, cautioning against prolonged grief that could affect health.
“By the grace of God, life must continue. Dwelling too much on the loss may affect your health. Though it is difficult, you must take heart,” he added.
Responding on behalf of the family, Chief Iyase, who also serves as APC Chairman in Egor Local Government Area, expressed gratitude to the governor for the visit, describing it as a rare show of compassion and leadership.
A family representative noted that the governor’s personal presence at the time of mourning was deeply appreciated and would remain memorable.
“We cannot fully express our gratitude. Your presence here is an uncommon gesture. Many would have sent messages, but you came in person. This will remain a lasting memory for us,” the family said.
They added that the visit reflected the governor’s humility and empathy, noting that such a gesture would resonate with the family for years to come.
Dignitaries present during the visit included the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa; Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq; APC State Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe; and APC State Secretary, Engr. Lawrence Okah, among others.
The visit underscored the administration’s commitment to standing with party members and community leaders during periods of personal loss.
