Okpebholo, Oshiomhole Lead APC Delegation on Condolence Visit to Edo Deputy Gov
Benin City- Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on Wednesday led a high-powered delegation of government officials and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on a condolence visit to the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, over the death of his mother, late Mrs. Esther Imaguomwanruo Idahosa.
The delegation included APC State Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe; Deputy State Chairman, Sylvester Aigboboh; Party Secretary, Lawrence Okah; Secretary to the State Government, Musa Ikhilor; commissioners, top government functionaries, and party leaders.
Speaking during the visit, Governor Okpebholo described the deceased as a woman who lived a fulfilled life, noting that death remains an inevitable end for all.
“Your mother lived a good and fulfilled life. For her to have raised successful children like you is a testament to a life well lived. Death is inevitable; it is a debt all must pay. Only God can comfort the family at a time like this,” he said.
The governor assured the Deputy Governor and his family of the prayers and support of the government and people of Edo State, urging them to remain strong in the face of the loss.
He added that the passing of the matriarch had created a significant void in the family and prayed for divine strength for them to bear the loss.
Also speaking, former Edo State Governor and Senator representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, described the deceased as a mother figure not only to her immediate family but to the APC family and the state at large.
He urged the bereaved family to take solace in her fulfilled life and enduring legacy.
“I understand your pain, given how close you were to your mother. Her loss will be deeply felt. But she lived to see her children succeed and become responsible members of society. That is a source of comfort,” Oshiomhole said.
Responding on behalf of the family, Deputy Governor Idahosa expressed appreciation to the governor and the delegation for the prompt visit, noting that it came less than 24 hours after his mother’s passing.
“Despite your busy schedule, you found time to be with us at this moment. This shows genuine love and support for my family,” he said.
He disclosed that the family would soon meet to finalise burial arrangements, which would be communicated to the government and party leadership.
Idahosa also commended Governor Okpebholo for his consistent support and guidance, describing him as a leader whose counsel has been instrumental in his political journey.
“My mother lived a fulfilled life and was instrumental in our successes. We are grateful for your support and presence at this difficult time,” he added.
The visit was marked by prayers for the repose of the deceased and strength for the bereaved family.
