Edo Government Distributes Learning, Sports Materials to Boost Primary Education

The Edo State Government has officially commenced the distribution of teaching, learning, and sports materials to primary schools across the state, in a move aimed at strengthening basic education and promoting holistic pupil development.

The initiative, driven by Governor Monday Okpebholo, is being implemented in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board.

The flag-off ceremony was performed by the Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa, who highlighted the critical role of quality education in driving sustainable development and securing a brighter future for the younger generation.

Representing Egor Local Government Area at the event, the Executive Chairman, Osaro Osa Eribo, alongside his Vice, Kenny Isokpan, led the council’s delegation to receive materials allocated to schools within the locality.

Items distributed include essential teaching aids, instructional materials, and sports equipment designed to enhance both academic delivery and physical development among pupils.

Stakeholders at the event noted that the intervention would significantly improve the learning environment in public primary schools, particularly in underserved communities.

Residents of Egor Local Government Area expressed appreciation to the state government for the initiative, pledging to ensure proper utilization and maintenance of the materials for the benefit of pupils.

The programme forms part of the Edo State Government’s broader strategy to improve educational standards, expand access to quality learning resources, and equip young learners with the tools necessary for future success.
