Israel’s widespread “forced displacement” in the West Bank—UN reports

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has voiced serious concern after the Israeli military threatened to destroy all buildings in 13 Palestinian villages in the Masafer Yatta region of the occupied West Bank.

OCHA said that if the military goes ahead with its planned demolitions, at least 1,200 people, including over 500 children, could now be “forced to relocate.”

OCHA’s latest situation report on the worsening conditions for Palestinians in the West Bank reports that between June 13 and June 23, Israeli soldiers temporarily confiscated 240 Palestinian homes to use as military outposts and interrogation centers.

The UN claimed that during the military’s home invasions, the residents were either arrested or forced to leave.

The Israeli force also destroyed about 100 buildings, mainly homes in the Tulkarem and Nur Shams refugee camps in the West Bank this month. In occupied East Jerusalem, OCHA reported that nearly 320 families in three Palestinian neighborhoods are facing new risks of demolition and eviction.
