The Edo State Police Command has presented cheques totaling ₦39,869,356.43 to beneficiaries of the Nigeria Police Force’s Group Life Assurance and Group Personal Accident Scheme.

The presentation was made as part of efforts to provide welfare support to police personnel and families of officers who died or suffered injuries in the course of service.

Speaking at the presentation, the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Patrick Daaor, PSC(+), MNIPS, described the occasion as significant, stressing that the initiative reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to the welfare of its personnel and their families.

Daaor commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, PSC(+), NPM, for his continued attention to the welfare of police officers and for ensuring that the sacrifices made by personnel are accompanied by meaningful welfare support.

According to the Commissioner, although no financial compensation could replace a lost loved one or erase the pain associated with injuries sustained in service, the insurance payments would provide some relief to affected families.

He assured beneficiaries that the Nigeria Police Force would continue to recognise and appreciate the sacrifices made by its personnel in the line of duty.

The Commissioner urged the beneficiaries to accept the payments as an expression of appreciation for the service and sacrifices of their loved ones.

He also prayed for the continued protection of police personnel and for the eternal rest of officers who lost their lives in the course of serving the nation.
