Edo NUJ Mourns ITV/Radio Correspondent Kingsley Uchegbu
The Nigeria Union of Journalists Edo State Council has expressed deep sorrow over the death of ITV/Radio staff member and Government House Correspondent, Kingsley Uchegbu.
In a condolence message to the management of Independent Television and Radio in Benin City, the union described the late journalist as a dedicated media professional whose commitment to duty and active involvement in union activities earned him widespread respect among colleagues.
The statement, jointly signed by the Chairman of the NUJ Edo State Council, Festus Alenkhe, and Secretary, Andy Egbon, said the union received news of Uchegbu’s death with “profound shock, deep sorrow and heavy hearts.”
According to the union, Uchegbu was not only a committed staff member of ITV/Radio but also an active member of the NUJ in Edo State, known for his humility, passion for journalism and friendly disposition.
The union described his death as a major loss to ITV/Radio, the journalism profession and the NUJ family, noting that his absence would be deeply felt by all who worked with him.
“At moments like this, words are inadequate to express the grief and sadness in our hearts,” the statement said.
The NUJ condoled with the management and staff of ITV/Radio, as well as the deceased’s family, friends and loved ones, over what it described as a painful loss.
The union also prayed for the repose of his soul and for God to grant his family the strength to bear the loss.
