The Egor Local Government Council, in collaboration with the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission, has organised a stakeholders’ sensitisation programme aimed at promoting peaceful, credible, free and fair local government elections in Edo State.

The interactive engagement brought together key stakeholders across the council area, including representatives of political parties, security agencies, pressure and union groups, the media, traditional rulers, civil society organisations, community leaders and other interest groups.

Officials of the electoral commission used the forum to engage participants on modalities for the conduct of the elections, electoral guidelines, voter participation, security arrangements and the need for stakeholders to uphold democratic principles throughout the electoral process.

The programme also featured an interactive session where participants reviewed previous electoral exercises, identified challenges experienced in past elections and proposed practical solutions capable of strengthening the credibility and transparency of the forthcoming polls.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of Egor Local Government Council, Osaro Osa Eribo, commended the electoral commission for engaging stakeholders at the grassroots level. He stressed the importance of collaboration, peaceful coexistence and active civic participation in ensuring successful local government elections.

Eribo further urged political actors and residents of Egor to conduct themselves responsibly before, during and after the elections, noting that peace and unity remain essential for sustainable development in the council area.

Top council officials, traditional rulers, community leaders, party representatives, security agencies and members of the media attended the programme and contributed to discussions.

The sensitisation exercise ended with a collective resolve by stakeholders to support efforts aimed at ensuring a peaceful, transparent and credible electoral process across Egor Local Government Area.
