Edo Government Restructures Ministries to Align with SHINE and Renewed Hope Agendas

In a bold move to strengthen governance and enhance administrative efficiency, the Edo State Government has announced a comprehensive restructuring of its Ministries. The approval for this strategic reform was granted by the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo.

According to a government statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, the restructuring exercise is aimed at aligning Edo State’s governance framework with the structure at the Federal level, ensuring a seamless integration of Governor Okpebholo’s SHINE Agenda with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

As part of the reform, new Ministries have been created while some defunct ones have been revived—bringing the total number of Ministries in the state to twenty-eight (28). The development, the statement noted, is intended to promote greater efficiency, coordination, and service delivery across key sectors of government.

The newly approved Ministries and their appointed Commissioners are as follows:

  1. Ministry of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy — Pending
  2. Ministry of Works — Hon. (Dr.) Felix Ehiguese Akhabue
  3. Ministry of Mining — Hon. Andrew Ijegbai
  4. Ministry of Information and Strategy — Prince Kassim Afegbua
  5. Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs — Hon. Paul Nosayaba Ohonbamu
  6. Ministry of Business, Trade and Investment — Omoh Anabor
  7. Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security — Dr. Jerry Uwangue, FCISM
  8. Ministry of Livestock Development — Prof. Omorodion Ignatius Ikponwosa
  9. Ministry of Environment and Sustainability — Hon. (Barr.) Nosa T. Adams
  10. Ministry of Health — Dr. Cyril Adams Oshiomhole
