Army Begins Sensitisation for 92nd Regular Recruits Intake in Edo
BENIN CITY — The Nigerian Army is set to commence a sensitisation campaign for prospective applicants ahead of the 92nd Regular Recruits Intake (RRI) in Edo State.
The sensitisation exercise is scheduled to take place from October 5 to 12, 2026, as part of efforts to increase awareness and encourage more qualified youths in the state to participate in the recruitment exercise.
The Army disclosed this in a letter signed by Major-General I.M. Abdullahi on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff and addressed to the Edo State Government.
According to the letter, a similar sensitisation exercise was conducted in Edo State during the previous recruitment exercise in collaboration with the state government.
The Army said the initiative resulted in an increase in the number of applications and successful candidates from the state.
It noted, however, that Edo State still failed to meet its required quota of successful recruits, prompting the Chief of Army Staff to direct that the sensitisation programme be sustained.
“The Chief of Army Staff has directed that the sensitisation exercise be sustained in the state,” the letter stated.
The Army appealed to the state government to support the exercise by leveraging local electronic and print media to further publicise the recruitment opportunity.
It explained that sustained publicity would improve public awareness, boost the number of applications and ultimately increase the number of successful candidates from Edo State.
The sensitisation team is expected to visit various locations in the state between October 5 and 12 as part of efforts to reach prospective applicants ahead of the 92nd Regular Recruits Intake.
Prospective applicants are expected to be between 18 and 26 years of age and must meet other requirements stipulated by the Nigerian Army for the recruitment exercise.
The statement was signed by Rt. Hon. Festus Ebea, Commissioner for Public Safety and Security, Edo State.
