Gov. Uba Sani Football Tournament Sponsored by Hon. Nasidi Kicks Off May 8 in Kaduna
The much-anticipated “Governor Uba Sani Football Tournament 2026” is set to commence on Friday, May 8, in Kaduna State, with stakeholders describing the initiative as a strategic platform for youth engagement and community development.
The tournament, which will feature teams from Doka and Gabasawa wards, will officially open with a fixture between Unguwar Rimi Ward and Kabala Ward. The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place at the NITR Field, with kickoff slated for 4:00 p.m.

Named after the Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, the competition is aimed at fostering unity and promoting grassroots football across the participating communities.
The event is being sponsored by Hon. Isa Nasidi, an All Progressive Congress (APC) aspirant representing the Doka/Gabasawa constituency, who noted that the initiative is part of broader efforts to engage youths constructively and encourage talent discovery at the local level.

Organisers say the tournament will not only provide a platform for sporting excellence but also strengthen social bonds among residents, leveraging football as a tool for inclusion and positive community interaction.
Residents and football enthusiasts are expected to turn out in large numbers for the opening ceremony, as anticipation builds around what is projected to be a highly competitive and impactful tournament.
The tournament carries the theme, “United by Football, Stronger Together,” reflecting its core objective of promoting unity and collective progress within the host communities.
