Gov. Okpebholo Urges Unity, Hope at Easter

Benin City-Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has called on Christians in the state and across Nigeria to embrace unity, hope, and renewed faith as they celebrate Easter.

In his Easter message, the governor described the season as a sacred period symbolising sacrifice, love, redemption, and hope, rooted in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

He urged Christians to reflect on the teachings and virtues of Jesus Christ, particularly his humility, selflessness, and unwavering faith.

Okpebholo noted that Easter represents the triumph of light over darkness and life over death, encouraging citizens to remain resilient and optimistic despite prevailing challenges.

He called on residents of Edo State to promote unity, peace, and mutual respect, irrespective of religious or ethnic differences, stressing the importance of collective harmony in societal development.

The governor further reassured citizens of his administration’s commitment to good governance, economic growth, and improved welfare, adding that shared responsibility is key to building a prosperous and secure state.

“Let this Easter season inspire us to renew our faith in God and in one another, as we work together towards a better future for our dear state,” he said.

He also urged Nigerians to use the period to pray for sustained peace, progress, and development, particularly as the 2027 general elections approach.

The statement was signed by Dr. Patrick Akhere Ebojele, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.
