Tinubu’s Dual Citizenship: He Lied Under Oath; Says David Hundeyin

A Nigerian foremost investigative journalist David Hundeyin, who is known for his infamous revelations on April 17, posted on his verified twitter handle the Guianese international passport data page belonging to the President Elect Bola Ammed Tinubu.

This has raised the questions about the APC candidate having  dual citizenship and also the claim he may have committed perjury on his INEC form EC9  which may contravene  the law as stipulated by the constitution.

Twitter went agog as Nigerians where totally amazed at this revelation and wondered what will be the fate of the President Elect as the constitution of Nigeria does not permit dual Citizenship for anyone running for the office of the President.

The journalist, who earlier revealed how Mr. Tinubu submitted a fake Chicago State University certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission, said that the former Lagos State governor should face a 14-year jail term as the punishment stipulated for perjury under Nigerian laws.

While appearing as a guest in the popular online interview programme 90MinutesAfrica hosted by Rudolf Okonkwo on Sunday, David Hundeyin revealed that Tinubu failed to declare in his form EC9 submitted to INEC that he obtained the citizenship of Guinea.

“In the form EC9, which is a sworn affidavit, there is a question that asks if the candidate has obtained citizenship of another country. It requires a simple yes or no answer.

“Tinubu clearly ticked ‘no’- that he has not acquired citizenship of another country. But there is prima facie evidence that he did acquire citizenship of another country and fairly recently as well. So he lied under oath, which is perjury, and under the Nigerian constitution, it’s punishable with 14 years imprisonment,” he explained.

But Mr. Hundeyin argued that the issue at stake is Tinubu’s deliberate falsehood in the information supplied under oath in a sworn affidavit.

Meanwhile, the Bola Tinubu team has been doing everything to suppress the leak by the journalist. His twitter verified handle was reported and twitter got him locked out of the social media platform.

They also persuaded YouTube to take down Rudolf Okonkwo’s video of the interview with David Hundeyin on Dr. Damages YouTube account after accusing it of violating community guidelines policy called “harassment and cyber bullying.”
