Mercy Johnson-Okojie Appointed as as Special Adviser on Public Engagement in Edo State

Benin City- The Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of Mrs. Mercy Johnson-Okojie as Special Adviser on Public Engagement and Advocacy.

The appointment, announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq., is part of the administration’s efforts to strengthen communication between government and citizens and deepen public participation in governance.

Mrs. Johnson-Okojie is a renowned Nigerian actress, producer, entrepreneur and philanthropist, widely regarded as one of Nollywood’s most accomplished figures. With a career spanning nearly two decades and appearances in over 200 films, she has earned multiple awards and nominations, including recognition at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.

Beyond her achievements in the entertainment industry, she is known for her humanitarian interventions through the Mercy Johnson Okojie Foundation, where she has championed women empowerment, child welfare, education support and healthcare outreach initiatives. Her advocacy efforts have focused on promoting civic awareness, social responsibility and community development.

In her new capacity, Mrs. Johnson-Okojie is expected to leverage her public influence, communication expertise and grassroots appeal to enhance citizens’ engagement with government policies and programmes across the state.

The appointment underscores Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to harnessing the credibility and reach of distinguished Nigerians in advancing his administration’s vision for a more inclusive, participatory and united Edo State.
