Edo Govt Appoints Andrew Momodu as Commissioner-Designate

The Edo State Government has announced the appointment of Hon. Andrew Momodu as Commissioner-designate, following approval by Governor Monday Okpebholo.

In a special government announcement dated February 14, 2026, and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq., the administration said the nomination reflects the Governor’s commitment to strengthening his team with experienced and competent leaders.

Hon. Momodu, described as a seasoned political administrator and public affairs practitioner, brings extensive experience in governance, security coordination, and democratic engagement. He previously served as Special Adviser to the Governor of Edo State on Security and Public Order, where he coordinated critical security and public safety initiatives across the state.

Earlier in his career, Momodu worked as a political aide to former Edo State Governor and ex-National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole. In that capacity, he was involved in party organization and political mobilization, building a foundation in grassroots politics and strategic engagement.

The statement also noted his active participation in civic discourse and political education aimed at promoting democratic participation. In 2023, he contested for a seat in the House of Representatives, further demonstrating his commitment to public service and representation.

In line with constitutional requirements, Momodu’s name will be forwarded to the Edo State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.

Governor Okpebholo reaffirmed his administration’s focus on assembling a results-driven team to advance sustainable growth, inclusive development, and improved service delivery across Edo State.
