The International Federation of Women Lawyers (Federacion Internacional De Abogadas, FIDA) Edo State Branch, led by its Chairperson, Princess Francisca Uvbi Elema, paid a courtesy visit to the Executive Chairman of Egor Local Government Council, Hon. Osaro Osa Eribo, to strengthen partnership and deepen collaborative efforts toward protecting the rights and welfare of women and children within the locality.

During the visit, Princess Francisca Uvbi Elema highlighted the core mandates of FIDA—legal advocacy, public enlightenment, protection of vulnerable groups, and promoting justice and equity. She emphasized the need for closer synergy with Egor Local Government Council in driving programmes that align with these objectives, particularly in sensitization campaigns, legal aid outreach, and community empowerment initiatives.

The Chairperson stated that FIDA’s activities across the state continue to focus on providing free legal services for indigent women and children, counselling, mediation, and community awareness on gender-based violence. She expressed the body’s readiness to collaborate with the council in areas of mutual interest to enhance peace, safety, and overall well-being in Egor.

In his response, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Osaro Osa Eribo, warmly welcomed the delegation and commended FIDA for its unwavering commitment to justice, gender equity, and the protection of the vulnerable. He assured the representatives of the council’s willingness to collaborate in advancing the body’s programmes within the LGA.

He further noted that Egor Local Government is open to partnerships that promote social development, adding that initiatives aimed at safeguarding women and children are a top priority under his administration’s people-centered governance approach.

The visit ended with mutual optimism as both parties look forward to working closely to foster a safer, more informed, and more inclusive society for all residents of Egor Local Government Area.
