In a major step towards strengthening governance, security, and data management at the grassroots, the Executive Chairman of Egor Local Government Council, Hon. Osaro Osa Eribo, has signed into law the Bye-Law Establishing Proof of Address for Residents of Egor Local Government Area, Edo State.
The historic signing ceremony, held at the council’s Secretariat, saw the bye-law formally presented to the Chairman by the Clerk of the Legislative Arm, Mrs. Tracy Ben-Musa, in the presence of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Nosa Izegbuwa, and other lawmakers.
Also in attendance were top council officials, led by the Head of Local Government Administration, Dr. Mathew, who applauded the synergy between the executive and legislative arms in driving people-focused policies.
Speaking shortly after assenting to the bye-law, Hon. Eribo described it as a “timely and people-oriented initiative” designed to enhance community safety, local administration, and accurate identification of residents across Egor.

According to him, the Proof of Address Scheme will aid effective planning, improve security management, and foster social and economic development through reliable demographic data.
In his remarks, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Nosa Izegbuwa, commended the executive arm for its dedication to transparent governance and community development.
The event was rounded off with goodwill messages and commendations from stakeholders, who hailed the initiative as a bold and progressive move towards structured local governance.
