EGOR COUNCIL CRACKS DOWN ON ILLEGAL REVENUE OPERATORS WITH SUSPECTS ARRESTED

Uselu-The Egor Local Government Council has intensified its crackdown on illegal revenue collectors operating within the locality. Despite repeated warnings from the Executive Chairman, Hon. Osaro Osa Eribo, some unscrupulous individuals have continued to extort innocent residents and business owners under the false pretense of working for the Council.

Acting swiftly on credible intelligence, the Chairman’s Anti-Corruption Team on Thursday, 17th October 2025, apprehended a group of suspects engaged in the illegal collection of levies. The group, led by Mr. Shola Omokaro, was caught red-handed and has been handed over to law enforcement authorities for further investigation and prosecution.

In a firm statement, Hon. Eribo reiterated his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on corruption, extortion, and all forms of illegal revenue activities, warning that those involved will face the full weight of the law.

“We will not allow anyone to tarnish the image of this administration or exploit our citizens in the name of revenue collection. Anyone caught will be prosecuted without hesitation,” the Chairman declared.

The Council urges residents, business operators, and transporters to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious individuals or groups involved in illegal revenue collection to the Egor Local Government Council, local vigilante groups, or the nearest police station for immediate action.

This latest enforcement underscores the Council’s unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and good governance in Egor Local Government Area. Offenders are strongly advised to desist immediately, ignorance of the law will not be an excuse.
