Ossiomo Power Restores Electricity to Communities and Customers in Edo

After years in darkness, some communities in Edo State are finally seeing light again, thanks to Ossiomo Power. On September 5, 2025, the company successfully restored power to its 33KV line, bringing electricity supply back to homes and businesses.

According to Ossiomo Power, the restored supply now comes from its IPP2 facility, a fully owned gas and power infrastructure. The company also addressed last week’s outage, which it attributed to a contractor’s mistake, assuring customers that operations have since stabilized.

The Edo State Government’s decision to revert to the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) was acknowledged, but Ossiomo stressed that its goal remains to provide a competitive alternative for energy users in the Benin Metropolitan Area.

For some communities, this restoration marks the end of more than six years without power. The company highlighted three key advantages of its supply:

  • Tariff/Cost: Ossiomo Power charges N185 per KWh for Edo State Government and N199 per KWh for third-party customers, compared to NERC Band A’s N225 per KWh. A business with a 1.5MW average load could save up to N50 million monthly by using Ossiomo’s network.
  • Efficiency: Customers attest to the reliability and performance of the Ossiomo grid.
  • Quality: The network’s stability ensures sensitive equipment, such as those in hospitals, runs without interruption.

Ossiomo also emphasized its local roots, noting that its principals are Edo indigenes with international experience in engineering and financing. The company expressed pride in contributing resources and expertise to both the state and the nation.

For Edo residents who have long endured erratic power supply, this development brings a renewed sense of hope and opportunity.
