Labour Party Candidate Confirms Spot on Edo Central Bye-Election Ballot, Assures Voters

Benin City — The Labour Party’s Senatorial candidate for Edo Central, Hon. Paul Omo Okojie, has reassured his supporters and constituents that he will be on the ballot for the upcoming bye-election scheduled for Saturday, August 16th.

This assurance comes after weeks of legal hurdles and political speculation regarding the party’s participation in the polls. Okojie revealed that the Labour Party’s legal team has successfully concluded all processes required by law, clearing the way for his candidacy to be officially recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“I want to categorically state that I am on the ballot,” Okojie said in a statement issued in Benin City. “This is not just a personal victory, it is a triumph for democracy and for every citizen of Edo Central who deserves fair representation in the Senate. We have fought to protect the people’s right to choose, and now we are ready to win.”

The Independent National Electoral Commission is expected to release an updated list of candidates before election day, reflecting Okojie’s name as the Labour Party’s flagbearer.

Party officials hailed the development as a significant boost for Edo Central voters who have been yearning for a shift in political leadership. “Paul Omo Okojie represents integrity, transparency, and service. His presence on the ballot gives the electorate a true alternative,” a Labour Party spokesperson said.

With the election just days away, Okojie has called on his supporters to remain united, vigilant, and prepared to come out in large numbers on Saturday to vote for change.

“This is our moment to make history,” he added. “The people’s will must prevail.”

The Edo Central Senatorial bye-election is expected to be one of the most closely watched political contests in the state, with major parties battling for control of seat.
