Gov Okpebholo Orders Removal of Acting Provost in State College of Education

Benin City, — In a surprising turn of events, the Edo State Government has announced the immediate removal of the Acting Provost of the Edo State College of Education. The directive, personally ordered by the Executive Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, marks a significant shake-up in the leadership of one of the state’s key educational institutions.

The announcement, made public through a government circular signed by Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq., Secretary to the State Government, stated that the most senior academic staff of the College would now step in as acting Provost. This interim arrangement will remain in place pending the constitution of a Governing Council for the College—a move expected to bring about more structured and sustainable leadership.

As the College adjusts to the new leadership structure, all eyes will be on the Governor’s next steps—particularly the constitution of the Governing Council, which many hope will be comprised of visionary and reform-minded individuals.

The removal, which takes immediate effect, underscores the Governor’s active involvement in education reform and his intent to restore integrity and effectiveness in the management of public institutions across Edo State.
