The Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Edo State has reiterated its commitment to advancing the development and empowerment of women. This assurance was given during a meeting with the leadership of the Progressive Better Edo Women Development Association (PBEWDA) at Government House, Benin City.
During the engagement, Anani reaffirmed the state government’s dedication to improving the standard of living for its citizens, particularly women, in alignment with the administration’s broader development agenda.
She emphasized the importance of collaboration and pledged her support for initiatives that foster women’s empowerment.
Highlighting the shared objectives between her office and PBEWDA, Anani noted that her mandate extends to addressing the needs of women, children, youths, and vulnerable groups in the state. She encouraged the association to maintain its efforts, stressing the value of consistency and authenticity in achieving sustainable impact.
“My office is deeply invested in the welfare of women and vulnerable populations. I support your initiative and encourage you to continue your good work. When you commit to a cause sincerely, recognition and support will follow. Stay consistent, as your efforts are being noticed,” she added.
In response, the leader of PBEWDA, Comrade Omenai Blessing, congratulated Mrs. Anani on her new role and expressed optimism about collaborating with the Office of the First Lady to expand the reach of their programs.
“I have been engaged in this cause since 2006. Many believe that one must be wealthy to give back, but I have always taught women that generosity is not solely about financial capacity—it is about commitment and willingness to help others,” Comrade Blessing stated.
She further expressed gratitude for the opportunity to engage with first lady and reiterated her association’s mission to alleviate hardship among women.
“I appreciate this privilege to connect with your office. Our goal is to uplift as many women as possible, and we look forward to a productive partnership.”
The meeting underscored Edo State Government’s continued focus on initiatives that drive social and economic empowerment for women, reinforcing its commitment to inclusive development and community support.
