BREAKING: Petitioners’ Witness Admits Errors in Statements Before Tribunal

The Edo State Governorship Election Tribunal continued sitting today with the petitioners calling their fourth witness (PW4) in case EPT/ED/GOV/02/2024, Ighodalo Asuerinme & Anor vs INEC and 2 others. The witness, Destiny Enabulele, 48, told the court that his statement was in error.

Enabulele, PW4, whose election as a Member of the Edo State House of Assembly (Ovia South-West constituency) was quashed by an election tribunal in 2023 over allegations of irregularities, malpractices, and non-compliance with the Electoral Act, claimed to be a development worker.

Despite admitting to errors in his statement, the tribunal provisionally accepted it as evidence, while the respondents objected respectfully and reserved their reasons for their final written address.
