Security: Gov Okpebholo Fulfills Promise, as Edo Residents Enjoy Crime Free Christmas

The security situation in Edo State has greatly improved as the governor, Sen. Monday Okpebholo’s administration is collaborating with the relevant security agencies in the State to ensure Edo people enjoy a crime free yuletide.

Governor Monday Okpebholo assured Edo people that under his watch, his administration will be firm in dealing with criminal elements in the State and improve the security situation to promote peace, harmony, unity, growth and development.

The governor who has matched words with actions has taken several steps in keeping to his campaign promises of ensuring the State is safe for all citizens, friends and investors in the State.

In his inaugural speech on November 12, 2024, the governor listed security as one of the five points agenda of his administration for the next four years and said that the people of Edo state have become victims of kidnapping and other violent crimes, noting that his administration will be firm in dealing with them.

His budgetary provision for 2025 also focused on security as his administration is powered by the drive to bring about peace and harmony in all parts of the State.

The governor noted that his administration has purchased 20 patrol vehicles to assist various security agencies and personnel in the State to enable them carry out their primary responsibilities and ensure the State is safe and secure for all to live, do business and thrive in all endeavors.

According to him, “My administration has recently purchased 20 patrol vehicles to assist the security personnel in their work and we plan to purchase more in the coming year. The ban on the activities of the Edo State Vigilante has been lifted”.

Speaking to some residents in the State about the security situation Mr. Kelly Osas, Mabel Okungbowa, Chukwuemeka Eze and Stanley Obadigie all commended the efforts of the present administration led by Senator Monday Okpebholo on ensuring peace and security as the State is peaceful this yuletide.

They all called on residents, investors and all living in the State to collaborate with the government, security agencies and relevant stakeholders to ensure peace, unity and ensure a secured atmosphere is maintained all through the festive period and throughout 2025.
